Quarantine by Charlie Hoberman
My name is Charlie Hoberman and I am a 20-year-old photographer from Southern California, but I grew up in a small surf community in the heart of Malibu. I spend most of my time in school, but I find peace of mind at local beaches up and down the coast. I have been surrounded by all forms of contemporary, modern, and fine art my whole life as I was brought up by my mother, a photographer, and my dad, an art collector. This combination has opened my eyes to the endless mediums of storytelling in which I have incorporated within my own artwork. Lately, I have been obsessed with 35mm film both on land and in the water and experimenting with different film stocks, lenses, and cameras has allowed me to look at the world from a new perspective, focusing on the beauty of life. Quarantine has kept me busy with scanning film, printing photos, and planning out new projects to work on. I am actually putting together a smaller book, covering urban and natural forms of life relative to the conditions of today’s world, so stay tuned with that! Being stuck at my home in California has led me to reminisce on a trip I took to the North Shore of Oahu this past winter.
