Solitude by Maxwell Rudd
My name is Maxwell, a surf photographer and Intensive Care nurse from South Australia. Currently the world is a scary and daunting place, we all as a community are feeling the effects of COVID-19 and will for some time to come. It’s hard to comprehend the situation that has arisen and just how much of an impact it will have on us and the broader community in the next few months.

Surfing brings people together, the love for being in and around the ocean is what has created the beautiful surf culture and community we live in today. Everyone has their own reasons for their love of the ocean, for me, it’s the solitude and how I can capture moments that bring people together. Then there are those special moments where it’s just you and the ocean. It’s hard to imagine not being in the water, but self-isolating will get us back in there sooner rather than later and get that curve flattened, hopefully enabling our healthcare system to deal with this pandemic.

Once this passes, I know the first thing I will be doing is exploring the beautiful coast we have here in South Australia and not taking it for granted. Here are a few images of places I will be going once this all quietens down to celebrate the massive effort we have all put in as a community to overcome this virus. Self-isolate, stay healthy. It’s a team effort!
