About The Sea by Anna Bergman
About the sea. I’m fascinated by the lines created and colours reflected. By the motion of the ocean and everything it evokes. When the sunrise hits a liquid surface to create a universe of its own. From the cold and rough waters in Sweden, to the crystal clear Atlantic Ocean or a smooth tropical sea. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always felt that as long as I’m by the ocean, I’ll be happy. I was only a couple weeks old the first time my parents put me on a sailboat and made that a part of my child hood. I guess that opened up my fascination for the ever changing play between all them forces surrounding the sea.

Photography on the other hand came to me way later. It wasn’t until my mid twenties that I fell in love with the art completely. I’ve always been a story teller in one way or another, exploring new areas of expression such as the written word or performing arts. Photography just happened to capture my attention along the way. And so did longboard surfing. The combination of the two is to me another very artful way of visual communication and performing arts. It’s a dance with the ocean and a play with lights, colours and lines. My aim with my water and surf photography is not always to capture the surfer and her or his skills, but rather to encapsulate the emotions of the ocean and everything it evokes while being surrounded by its liquidity. The calmness, the greatness and the insane beauty. The constant change and sometimes intimidating forces in motion as well as the perfection that aligns when everything’s just about right. It will keep me going forever.

All the best,
