Finless by Billy Cervi
My names Billy Cervi I'm from a small surf cray fishing town called Yanchep in Western Australia I'm 24 years old I'm a painter/aspiring surf ocean photographer I spend most of my time in the ocean or at the beach either taking photos surfing or fishing.
I always thought I wanted to get into photography but I was hesitant on the thought it was to expensive and DSLR’S had a certain shutter life but took the plunge when i got the opportunity to swap one of my wet suits for a entry level DSLR.
To be honest I didnt use it that much at first it was all a bit confusing I didn't really get interested till I started trying landscape long exposures I was hooked from there and a year later I decided to upgrade my equipment my obsession with long exposures continued and I started taking photos of small waves with a low shutter speed I used a long lens say 400mm and tried to get as close as I could without damaging my equipment.
It was then I knew I needed to get in the water and the search for a camera housing proceeded, camera waterproof housing are not cheap! I tried to find a particular housing to suit my camera used but a few months went by and my patience grew thin so I took the plunge and bought a Aquatech elite housing new which I'm very happy with.
I got a message through instagram one day from a guy named Jordan Rodin he rode a variety of quivers twiny’s, single fins, free friction and a short board but these days hes pretty much exclusively free friction (fin less) he took a liking to my images and asked if we could shoot some time and maybe get some images published, I was all ears and happy to give it a shot I haven't really took photos of surfers before then it was mostly empty waves.
Since then we've been good mates and taking photos/film together pretty much when ever the swells up and we've had some success and had quite a few images published in magazines were pretty happy and proud about and we look forward to the future of surf photography and see where it takes us.

Hey Romy thanks for the Kind words! It can be a difficult, frustrating path at times. But doing what you love and passionate about, over doing what your forced to do, Is well worth it in my eyes. And yes the ocean is a magic place. Much to give, much to give back!
